I recently sought advice from Chuck Runquist, former DNS SDK & Senior Technical Solutions PM for Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I noticed that after several weeks or months of use, the size of my user file went from typically around 25 to 30 MB to 180 Mb or more. There has been quite a bit of debate on the user forums with past releases of Dragon NaturallySpeaking as to whether or not it is beneficial to run the Acoustic Optimizer. The Acoustic Optimizer takes corrections stored in the archive and uses the data to optimise a user’s speech file to improve accuracy. Some users with previous versions of Dragon NaturallySpeaking have reported reductions in accuracy and slowed response after running the Optimizer.
